Free Stuff at Shaktihouse
Pin It Now!
Last night I was leaving the Shaktihouse after my aerial yoga class (which I absolutely love and highly recommend) when I saw that they had a little basket of free stuff. Of course I had to put my zine in the basket.
Keri Padon, my amazing aerial yoga teacher, had not yet heard of this zine and was super excited to score a copy!
Hooray, I love new readers!

Fanciest Little Free Library...that I've seen
Pin It Now!
I was dog sitting a few weeks ago in the Grant Park Neighborhood, which is a nicer, very family oriented neighborhood. I was taking the dogs out for an afternoon stroll when I happened upon this super deluxe little free library.
I love this little kiddo one attached to it; great detail. You may not be able to see it, but it has a weather vane and it's just totally adorable, but I will let you be the judge.

Free Box Find for April 2014
Pin It Now!
Today I happened across these like new Dolce & Gabbana men's sneakers. They are pretty awesome. I couldn't believe it. Here's a couple more pics:
And I rescued them right before the rain came down :)

Found in Oregon!
Pin It Now!
I am toying with Found in Oregon as the title of the next issue, but I am not sure how hard it will be to fill an entire issue with found items that are Oregon specific. That is why I am reaching out to all the wonderful free box fans out there.
If you have found something in a free box that is unique to Oregon, I would love to see your pictures and/or hear your stories. You can submit them to: freeboxthezine@gmail.com.
Here's an example: My friend, Meghan, found this in a free box when she was attending Lewis and Clark College. It's pretty hilarious. Look at the photo carefully and I will tell you what is amiss if you don't spot it:
Yes, the words are backwards!
So I hope this inspires you dig around your treasures for something Oregon or be on the lookout. I won't be putting this issue together for a month or so, so you have time.
Hearts,
Bece

Happy Snow Day 2014
Pin It Now!
Portland is covered in snow, but I was still able to distribute a zine to one of the many little free libraries on my way up to Mt. Tabor.
I dug through the books and hidden at the very bottom I found the perfect reading material for a day like today:
I have never been on Mt. Tabor when it was snowy. I live a mile or so away, so it was an easy jaunt to go check it out. When I got midway up, I heard boisterous laughing and screaming and every once in a while someone would be crying. Yep, there was the perfect sledding hill:
On my way up to the summit, I spied Mount St. Helens on the north side.
As I was walking today I was contemplating what it is about snow that is so magical. Is it that when it snows in Portland everything shuts down so you can just go out and have fun? Or is it something more? The air always feels cleaner and crisper and everyone seems to be smiling and happy when surrounded by snow. I feel like there has to be something mystical about snow. I don't know. What do you think?

Atlantis Rising Puzzle
Pin It Now!
I think I found this puzzle 5 or 6 years ago in a free box. Now, I will admit it, I am a Dead Head, so even though this is the tackiest '90s design Dead puzzle ever, I couldn't resist.
I really wanted to try to put it together this Thanksgiving, but the time never arose and we really needed the table space. Brandon's dad came to visit about a week ago and I suggested the puzzle and we were off and running.
It's a 550 piece puzzle, so it took a couple of days, but it was worth it and it was only missing one piece! I commented that it was symbolic for the piece of me that was missing since Jerry died *tee hee*.
Anyway, here it is in all its glory, family free box fun!
